Barewitness in the Park!

Guest actor Max Tuefferd improvs with Jan Probst while Matthew Gardner shoots

Want a great recipe for fun? Take 10 talented actors, 5 enthusiastic camera operators, 1 gorgeous day in Golden Gate Park, and a heaping amount of improvisation and you have Barewitness’s October 30th Playdate!

Actor-turned-shooter Jan captures a moment between BW's Marie Bouquet and guest actor Alex Alexander

The members of Barewitness were joined by local talent Alex Alexander, Sara Gozalo, Stan Stone, and Max Tuefferd for an afternoon of improvised filmmaking. With scenarios dreamed up by BW’s own Matthew Gardner and Lee Tsoflias, the group embarked on what we call an “old school” Barewitness style film shoot: ask actors and crew to meet you in a public place, spring character and story ideas on the cast, fire up the cameras and see what happens! True to BW form, the acting wasn't the only thing that was improvised – the cast often times doubled as our 2-camera crew and had to improvise moves to catch the action while avoiding getting the other camera in their shot.

Many, many thanks to our guests Alex, Sara, Stan and Max for their imaginative, hysterical, and poignant performances. Check back soon to see the results of our fabulous day in the park!
